Welcome
We are tremendously proud to be able to share our school with you. We are a vibrant, creative and brave school community committed to ensuring that all children in our care experience the very best start in life.
Our mission statement captures our approach to learning: "Passion for Learning and Skills for Life". We hold high expectations for student achievement and work to ensure our students are knowledgeable and skillful. We also want children to be excited and interested in their learning: for learning to be meaningful and relevant.
It is the goal to nurture children for their unique talents that marks Island Bay School as distinct. We approach students believing that 'one size does not fit all' and aim to meet individual learning needs. This approach can be seen in everything we do whether it is how we teach in classrooms, the opportunities children have to learn in a wide range of endeavour, our regular celebrations of learning, our arts programmes, extension for gifted and talented pupils and strong remedial programmes for those needing targeted support, or parent run clubs and workshops.
As a community we value partnership. At Island Bay School you can expect to find a warm welcome and sense of place. You can also expect to find many practices that you will not have come across in previous schools. At Island Bay School we believe in moving with the times. We are proud of the staff who constantly challenge themselves to be the best they can be. They are professional, talented, reflective and caring. They are keen innovators and I know their work positions Island Bay School as modern teaching and learning environment of significance.
Island Bay School children are warm, funny, sensitive, caring, smart and talented. We are excited each day by their potential and are committed to do everything we can to ensure it flourishes. We invite you to enjoy our website and visit us soon.
Kind regards
Perry Rush (Principal) Jane Hossack (Deputy Principal)
