** PLEASE NOTE: For planning purposes, we require this form to be filled out for ALL 2021 YEAR 4 TO 6 STUDENTS. **
Here is the presentation from our BYOD information evening.
The education sector realises that technologies can support children's learning at all levels of the school. In 2021, all students in years 4 to 6 are being invited to bring their own digital device to school to support their learning. This can be an iPad, Mac laptop, or medium to high-spec Chromebook.
From our experience with using digital technology through the BYOD initiative over the past 6 years, iPads have proven to be more efficient for students to use for a variety of reasons:
1. iPads with cases are more durable and easier for children to carry
2. The position and quality of the camera means taking learning photos and videos for Seesaw is easier and of better quality, and digital learning experiences such as stop motion are accessible
3. Greater access to learning apps with iPads
If you are intending on providing your child with a Chromebook, it is important that these are medium to high specifications models.
Whilst we recommend that students bring a device to school as a personal learning tool, the BYOD invitation is OPTIONAL.
Each BYOD hub will be resourced with devices provided by the school. This is approximately 1 device for every 4 or 5 students. Every BYOD device is beneficial, not just to the student bringing it, but to those who do not bring a device, as it increases access to the digital devices provided by Island Bay School.
You are welcome to purchase your device from anywhere, however, we have attached the link to the Noel Leeming BYOD Flyers which include bundles and discounts:
