Ahoaho SPCA visit - Wed 9 Dec

In Inquiry this term, we have been ‘Thinking like a Scientist’ This has involved doing a range of Science activities, including experiments and Animal studies. Our skills have been based on predictions, observations, and explanations. One of the aspects we are studying at the end of the term is animal environments, enrichment and aspects of animal care.

We are planning to visit the SPCA on Wednesday 9th December (Deanne/Emma’s Maths Group) and Thursday 10th December (Rachel’s Maths Group).

The cost will be $10.00 for the bus and SPCA entry.

A payment/permission plan is in place on Kindo. Look under Ahoaho Trip: SPCA

The payment will need to be made by 8th December.

On the Day of the SPCA trip

We will have an early lunch, leaving school at 12.30 on the bus, visiting from 1.00 till 2.00 pm leaving at 2.10 pm and returning to school by 2.30 pm.

Parent help will be very welcome. If you’d like to help, please email us. There is no charge. You can either bus with us or meet us at the SPCA, Alexandra Road Carpark at 12.50pm.

The children will need comfortable walking shoes and a windproof jacket. If raining, the trip will still go ahead as it is all indoors. However, we are confident the weather will be just great.

The purpose of this trip is to have a lesson around Animal Care, taken by the SPCA Educators. Topics such as animal care, well-being and Vet care will be explored. Following the lesson, the children will explore the SPCA in small groups with an adult helper, having time to interact with the cats and puppies there, as well as seeing first hand the specific ways animals are cared for and enriched within the SPCA.

Thank you so much.

Any other queries please contact us.

Kind regards
