There has been an interesting dialogue with some parents over the last few weeks around sweets in school. The main conversation is around the number of lollies given out for birthdays and how this sits with our view on healthy foods?
Whilst it is great that students think of their peers and give others something on their birthdays it also creates a strain on parents to provide something for a birthday and these choices are often unhealthy.
As a school, we have agreed to celebrate student birthdays by singing them happy birthday, but sweets or gifts are not to be shared with hubs or classes.
