We’ve officially made it to Level 1! What a fantastic achievement. Once again, thank you to all our students, families and staff for your efforts in making this experience as positive as you have.

I’d like to share with you some highlights of the week.

At our powhiri on Tuesday morning, we officially welcomed our new New Entrant families, and I want to reiterate how happy we are to have you join our Island Bay School community.

This week is Support Staff Week. It's a chance for us to celebrate the wins, particularly around the living wage - whakanuia ngā kaiāwhina tautoko! On Thursday we acknowledged each of our support staff members with a personalised card from the student council and a thank you morning tea.

There are also a few things coming up I'd like to draw your attention to. Our school cross country date has been confirmed (see the sports news section), and we’re looking forward to having lots of whānau spectators (and helpers please!) now that we’re at Level 1.

Finally, don’t forget the Family Quiz Night, tonight at 6.30pm hosted on zoom by our own Caitlin Van Ballekom. See the details in the post below - will your family be able to guess which baby photo goes with which teacher?!

Have a great weekend,

Deb Fenton
