Deb's Message - 31 July

Kia ora koutou katoa,

What a rich educational week it has been. Our school programmes are in full swing and it’s fantastic to see the wide range of learning opportunities on offer. There are so many highlights this week.

Congratulations to all our kids who participated in the Southern Zone Cross Country on Tuesday, you certainly did us proud!

On Wednesday we held a Matariki assembly. Thanks to Maria for leading this - it was great for our students to celebrate Māori New Year together. Also on Wednesday, our staff enjoyed an informative session with Bronwyn from Inside Out. This focused on the work our school is doing for our rainbow children and families. It was good to have the opportunity to talk about what we're doing in this space and look at ways we can increase our inclusivity.

From a learning perspective, I’ve really enjoyed seeing a great deal of excitement and joy as our students begin their Term 3 personalised inquiries. You’ll hear more on this through the term.

Looking ahead to the coming week, you will be aware we have changed the timing of the mid-year reporting due to COVID-19. On Friday 7 August, your child’s progress summary will be emailed to you.

Finally, a big thank you to our Student Council and the Home & School team who put on a fabulous series of discos yesterday. There was much sparkle and some great dance moves from students and teachers alike!

Thanks for an amazing week

Nga mihi
