Junior school swimming lessons

Updated: Sep 12, 2020

Island Bay School’s junior school children will be attending swimming lessons at Little Makos at Berhampore School in Term 4 as part of their annual Aquatic Education.

Swimming starts on Tuesday/Wednesday 13 & 14 October, and runs until Tuesday/Wednesday 1 & 2 December. Please note there is no swimming on Tuesday/Wednesday 27 & 28 October.

On the first day of swimming, each child is swim-tested by pool instructors, then placed in groups according to their swimming ability.

All children will travel by bus to and from Little Makos. The bus will come 15-20 minutes before the lesson to give the children time to change.

Cost: $45 for 7 lessons. Please pay on Kindo.

Please ensure that children have their swimming gear (togs, towel, cap, goggles) in a named bag, ready for each swim session.

Children with long hair must have their hair tied up and wear a swim cap. All the children need a swimming hat at Little Makos. You can buy one for $5 or they have some you can borrow at the lessons.

Parent help would be fantastic. If you can help, please let your child’s GG teacher know. Parents are welcome to watch swim sessions and to help the students to get shoes and socks on by the side of the pool but are reminded that any comments or questions they have need to be forwarded to their child’s teacher, not to the pool instructors. Just a reminder that unless you are police vetted by the school, you can not enter the children’s changing room.
