Rimu trip to Southern Landfill

The Southern Landfill site tours are conducted as part of waste minimisation and education for school groups. We will be travelling by bus to and from the site.

The one-hour tour includes visiting the:

• Recycle centre and Second Treasures shop

• Transfer station

• Tip face

• Compost plant

• Dewatering plant

• Closed landfill sites.

The tour gives a history of waste operations at the Southern Landfill, looks at the volume

and types of waste being sent to landfills, and shares ways to reduce, reuse and recycle.

12 November (Harakeke)

18 November (Rimurimu)

Please let us know if you are able to accompany us on the trip as parent help. For these tours to go ahead we must have at least 4 parent helpers per Guardian Group.
