Welcome to Term 1, 2021

Dear Parents and Whānau,

A very warm Island Bay School welcome to all our returning students and staff, and a special welcome to the large number of new students and their families, and our new staff member, Tim Thomson who is joining our Korimako teaching team.

I hope you have all had a safe and happy Christmas and festive season. For me, holidays have been focused on spending quality time with friends and family, visiting some of my favourite places, and getting on top of home and garden maintenance. Over recent weeks, I’ve also enjoyed spending more time with my immediate and extended family after my beloved Nana passed away, spending time at the beach in Tauranga, hanging out with my new puppy (we are now a two dog family!), and catching up with friends.

I hope that you have enjoyed some quality time with your special people, in your favourite places too. It’s the simple things that can bring the most happiness, and these are often the experiences that we remember.

2021 begins with a feeling of optimism and promise after a unique and challenging year in 2020.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow for the meetings with teachers or on Tuesday back at school. The staff are all prepared and excited to begin the new year with your wonderful tamariki. See you soon!
