Year 6 Leavers’ Graduation Ceremony & Poroporoaki Parent Information

Kia ora e te Whānau o Mātou Tāmariki Ono Tau - Greetings Families of our Year 6 Tamariki

We have some good news!

In this ever changing COVID world, we can now invite you to attend the Y6 Leavers’ Graduation Ceremony to celebrate your child’s journey through life as a primary school student, if you are double vaccinated.

Important things to note

  • The Leavers’ Graduation Ceremony is on Wednesday 15 December at 7pm in the School Hall

  • You will need to bring your vaccination certificate to attend the event and show it at the door to be allowed entry. The certificate must be the ‘My Vaccine Pass’ on your phone or the official approved hard copy letter. If you do not have it with you, we will unfortunately be unable to allow you entry.

  • You will need to wear a face mask

  • No more than two whānau members per family are to attend due to space in the hall.

  • Entry into the event will take time to allow Vaccine pass checks. Please arrive between 6:40pm-6:55pm. The event will not start until all whānau members’ vaccine certificates have been checked, and all are seated.

  • We ask that at the conclusion of the event in the hall, whānau depart the school site.

Should you be unable to attend the event or if you have more whānau who would like to watch, you are more than welcome to use the zoom link here:

Meeting ID: 737 494 5926

Passcode: 830580

Many thanks to Rob for his video & zoom expertise in helping us with this event!

The Leavers’ Graduation Ceremony is a non-curriculum related event. The Ministry of Education’s guidance for schools running non-curriculum related events is that schools ‘need to follow the relevant requirements which apply at the time of the event’. We are now operating under the Covid Protection Framework and Wellington is at the Orange setting:

The mitigation at Orange for non-curriculum related events states: ‘Non-curriculum related events may only go ahead if a vaccination certificate is required. In bringing others onsite, including parents and caregivers, any general rules for events applicable at the time will apply.’

Poroporoaki Parent Information

Unlike the Leavers Graduation, the Poroporaki on Friday 17 December is a curriculum-related event and is held in school time. This will be for STUDENTS ONLY, however we would like to invite you to view the Poroporoaki from outside the fence on the bottom gate ( if it is fine). You must:

  • wear a mask

  • adhere to social distancing

If wet, the event will be held in the hall and will be unable to be viewed.

Student Poroporoaki Information

1pm - Poroporoaki begins. Year 6’s meet on the bottom court. All Victory Park students and siblings of our Year 6 leavers will attend this event.

2pm - Poroporoaki finishes

I thank you as a community for all your support and patience as we navigate this COVID world.

Ngā mihi nui

Deborah Fenton
